FAQs

1. What is an ecological record label?

An ecological record label is a music company committed to reducing environmental impact in every part of its operations — from production and packaging to touring and merchandising. At Permaculture Media, we focus on nature-inspired music, sustainable recording practices, and eco-friendly distribution methods, proving that great music and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.

2. What kind of artists do you work with?

We collaborate with artists who share our values of ecological awareness and environmental stewardship. This includes musicians creating work from field recordings, ambient and experimental composers inspired by nature, and performers who are committed to sustainable touring and low-impact production.

3. What is Permaculture Media’s mission?

Our mission is to create and share music that deepens our connection to the natural world while minimizing our ecological footprint. Through environmentally responsible practices, we aim to inspire action on climate change, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable living.

4. How do you make music with minimal environmental impact?

Lots of ways! We prioritize renewable energy in our recording sessions, choose hybrid vehicles for travel to reduce carbon footprint, and use energy-efficient, rechargeable equipment whenever possible. We often incorporate recycled materials for packing and shipping, and even experiment with reusing gently used formats ie. cassettes, to be erased, cleaned, and repurposed to share new music.

5. Do you use field recordings from nature?

Yes. Many of our releases feature field recordings captured from forests, oceans, wetlands, and other natural environments. These recordings are collected with respect for wildlife and without disturbing habitats, creating authentic soundscapes that bring listeners closer to the planet’s beauty.

6. Do you partner with environmental organizations?

Yes, we actively collaborate with NGOs and community groups working in conservation, climate advocacy, and sustainable arts. These partnerships help amplify the impact of both our music and our environmental mission.

7. Can I recycle your packaging?

Absolutely. All our printed materials are recyclable and many are compostable. We encourage fans to reuse or repurpose packaging to extend its life before recycling.

8. How does your label give back to the environment?

A portion of our profits goes toward environmental projects, including reforestation, wildlife protection, and ocean clean-up initiatives. We also host benefit concerts and release special charity compilations to support environmental causes.

9. How can I submit my music to Permaculture Media?

We accept demo submissions from artists whose music reflects an environmental connection or nature-based inspiration. Please send a link to your music (no attachments) via our contact page, along with a brief description of your artistic vision and ecological approach.

10. Can I volunteer or collaborate?

Yes! We welcome collaborations with filmmakers, sound artists, field recordists, environmentalists, and volunteers who share our mission. Reach out through our contact page to explore opportunities.
